HOT MACA CHAI

This is a creamy and delicious warm winter smoothie that you can pour into a large mason jar with water- tight lid and take it with you for your all day nourishment.  This is a full meal for one person OR you can make this as a hearty drink for 2-4 friendsJ

1 1/2 cups water
1/8 cup or one small handful almonds (soaked overnight and rinsed)
1/2  cinnamon (stick broken in two)
3-5  whole cloves
3 whole pepper corns
3-5  cardamom pods
1  star anise pod
small chunk of fresh ginger root (1/2-one inch)

Blend on high for one minute and then strain through a cloth or nut milk bag.  Mixture will be thick as we are using as little water as possible here so that our drink will be hot later:-)

Add the strained liquid back into the blender.

Then add to the blender:

 1 Tablespoon  Maca Powder
1  ripe banana
2 Tablespoons of Jerusalem Artichoke Syrup or local raw honey
1 Tablespoon Cacao Butter cut into small chunks
1-2  teaspoons Coconut Oil
1  pinch of salt
2 cups hot (boiled) water

Blend all ingredients together on medium speed for about one minute until very smooth and creamy.  Liquid is HOT so make sure lid is secure!

Fill cups. Add froth and top with freshly grated nutmeg.  Enjoy!
